How do I apply for a firearms licence?
The first decision to make is if you want a "Competition License" for club shooting or a "Hunting Licence" for shooting on a property.

A Competition Licence is when your firearms are supported through a licensed firearm club for shooting in competitions.
1. Determine what type of firearm you are able to licence and what discipline/s you would like to compete in.
2. Purchase a firearm by putting a deposit on the firearm you are wanting to licence at a Gun Dealer.
- When you purchase a firearm from a dealer you will be supplied with a Serviceability Certificate which will outline the details of the firearm you have purchased, you will need this as part of the licensing process.
Please note: You will not be able to take the gun out of the store until you return with the firearm stated on your licence.
3. Complete the "Firearm Safety Training Course" - Firearms Training Course
4. Complete the "Firearm Authority Heath Examination" - Health Examinations
5. Log into the WA Firearms Portal to complete your firearm licence application - Firearms Portal
6. Ensure you have your Security & Storage in order for when you are asked for it, your safe must comply with the firearms legislation - Storage Security
7. Once you have your Licence approved and you have your actual firearms licence with the new firearm on it, you can attend the Gun Dealer and pick up your firearm.
